Real Estate Group Says Market Improving

SAN DIEGO -- A real estate group said the San Diego County housing market is showing some encouraging signs of recovery.

"We are seeing signs of the market improving. It's a great market for buyers and there are multiple offers on very well-priced homes," said Lori Staehling, president of the San Diego Association of Realtors . "With numbers of sales increasing in March, I am optimistic about the upcoming months. "

According to the association, 1,046 detached single-family homes sold in March, up from 7 in February. That is a 24 percent increase. The median price remained unchanged at $440,000, SDAR reported.

My opinion: not investors. The prices are still too high to pencil out for a rental.

Prices have fallen from the peak and there are itchy people sitting on the sidelines waiting to fulfill their dream. 20% off a house seems to be a good deal and most of these people aren't researching a great deal.

Banks are putting one house at a time on the market at a way low price to create a frenzy. Then buyers come and bid it up. Repeat x 100. They're just the first round of knife catchers. While bubbles tend to appreciate in a straight line, the downside tends to resemble a step.
