Has anyone else noticed that everything is getting expensive? Not just gas and other energy items, but staples like milk and lunchmeat? I remember when I was in PB and purchased freshly sliced deli meats for $3.99 or $4.99 a pound. I was at the store today and it is now $5.99 & $6.49.
Granted, Mac n cheese is still on special for $1 a box, but it seems inflating our way out of this economic crisis is well underway.
Your observations?

Milk especially. It used to be 2 one gallon jugs for $3.50. Now it is almost double that.

I don't know what kind of lunch meats you were buying, buty I have never seen anything decent for less than 5.99-8.99 . Those are now a bit higher for sure. The price of grains has already gone up and will go up even higher. I think the average american can continue to afford to eat , but they will be cutting back on entertainment and other non essential expenses. That's when retailers start to hurt.

Big 5 has already started to panic. Salaries, labor, you name it, they are looking to cut. Problem is they won't consider raising prices, adding $2 on to a $19 pair of shoes isn't a drastic jump, even for the cheap bastards that shop there.

The deli at Ralph's, etc. $4.99 was common for the turkey and ham, $5.99 for roast beef. Occasionally, they were $3.99 with club.
