SANTA ANA, Calif. - John McCain wants to leave the door open to a wide array of proposals to address the turmoil in home financing.

"I will not play election-year politics with the housing crisis," the certain Republican presidential nominee said in remarks prepared for delivery Tuesday to local business leaders south of Los Angeles. "I will evaluate everything in terms of whether it might be harmful or helpful to our effort to deal with the crisis we face now."

McCain seemed to suggest he would be open even to potential solutions that, perhaps, stray from the Republican party line, saying, "I will consider any and all proposals based on their cost and benefits" and "I will not allow dogma to override common sense."

But the small-government advocate and four-term Arizona senator also put restrictions on how far he was willing to go.

"I have always been committed to the principle that it is not the duty of government to bail out and reward those who act irresponsibly, whether they are big banks or small borrowers," McCain said.

(Emphasis mine)

This is the first candidate that has actually said something about the housing "crisis" that makes sense.

He just got my vote.

I'm actually thinking of not voting at all. No one deserves my vote so far. They all suck .

I am voting for McCain. I hope Romney gets on the ticket. I am not a McCain fan but these are desperate times.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

I believe the next president will only get 1 term. He's (yes, he) will receive a handbasket of crap to deal with and will take the fall for our next 2 years of economic flatline.

Romney ? Give me a break. That guy is worse than Bush in terms of cookie cutter politician. We need a third party badly. The republican party is a disgrace, and I find it very hard to vote for one of them anymore. The Democrats are just out to sell their votes to poor lazy minorities.

Romney is popular. I hope he gets on the ticket so the republicans have the greatest chance of winning. I don't like them either but at least they won't repeal all of Bush's "tax cuts for the rich"

Tax cuts for the rich my ass. I won't be getting back any of that federal money because it is not meant for people in my tax bracket. These idiots are a bunch of fools if they think that making 75k in so cal is a good salary. Just because I'm not some jerkoff on the corner of national city blvd drinking a 40, I am not worth the fedral rebate.

It is an advance of monies you'd normally get next year in tax refunds. You aren't getting a free gift if you get it or missing out on one if you don't. People think its some kind of free money from a pie in the sky.

however, chris wasn't referring to the rebate. he was referring to tax cuts which benefit 'the rich'. im glad someone thinks im right, too bad it isn't hot chicks.
