View Full Version : Track Report
SD KB 08-06-2006, 10:23 PM OK, I'm back from Willow Springs.
No pics this time because AI and AIX weren't running.
Cliff notes:
I got bumped up into group three.
A car flipped over in turn 9.
Not as hot as the June event.
My tires and brakes might need to be replaced.
At one point I hit the brake pedal and it went almost to the floor. That wasn't a good feeling. I pumped them a few times and it got better. I had fluid in there. Brake fade? Time for new rotors and pads, I think.
My transmission still doesn't feel so good.
I was the fastest car in group 2 :gears: and got moved into group 3, where I was one of the slowest (I only passed 4 cars). :mecry:
Track time is still fun though.
congrats!
time for some racing brake pads :)
SD KB 08-06-2006, 10:31 PM I've got the Hawks on there now. They squeek a lot. It doesn't bother me at all, but every passenger I've had lately has been like, "WTF?"
They stop good though, and that's all I care about. :snack:
midnite 08-06-2006, 10:34 PM
one day, one day....
SanDiego01Snake 08-06-2006, 10:35 PM better fluid, if you're still on the stock stuff..other than that, you are looking at upgrading brakes to brembos or something.
SD KB 08-06-2006, 10:37 PM Motul. The good stuff. Yep, it is big brake upgrade time. Now I just gotta find $1200. Hmm...
midnite 08-06-2006, 10:43 PM are you still running stock lines? at least get yourself some better brake fluid, better pads and def get yourself some stainless steel brake lines.
stock fox brakes are crap, but my car with carbon metallic pads and shoes, stainless steel brake lines and better brake fluid plus a proportioning valve stops DAMN good for what it is.
SD KB 08-06-2006, 10:46 PM Fluid and pads, I've got. The brake lines are stock, however.
SanDiego01Snake 08-06-2006, 11:04 PM honestly mike..get the focus RS brembo kit and some SS lines...it'll make a world of difference for 700 bucks
SD KB 08-06-2006, 11:10 PM Hmm... what about that brake duct kit you mentioned a while back? Have you ordered this yet?
midnite 08-06-2006, 11:14 PM honestly mike..get the focus RS brembo kit and some SS lines...it'll make a world of difference for 700 bucks

SanDiego01Snake 08-06-2006, 11:19 PM Hmm... what about that brake duct kit you mentioned a while back? Have you ordered this yet?

SD KB 08-07-2006, 12:21 AM Do you still have the contact number? It's only $50, right?
Even on stock brakes, cooler = better. If it's that cheap, I'll buy it now.
SanDiego01Snake 08-07-2006, 12:38 AM its in the Open track forum on SVTPerformance.com..."brake duct cooling" or somethign....check it out...dunno if hes got shit for you guys yet tho...name's Anthony, really chill guy
Kloogy 08-07-2006, 10:39 AM Considering that you do visit the track often, I can't believe you haven't sprung for the Brembos Mike. Just do it. You are one of the few people who will actually get there money's worth from it.
