So much dirt has been thrown on this team. Seems to me they are coming alive again. Now they get to play the NL west. The crappiest division in the majors.

i don't know if they're coming back, but since clemens returned, it seems a fire has been lit under them. i mean, let's not mistake the significance of that whatsoever; as it can carry a team without much pitching talent a long way.

this could be the mid season surge they need to get themselves back into the race.

as for the NL west being the crappiest division, welcome to 2001..now in 2007 it's pretty obvious that the NL Central is the worst division in baseball.

If you think the NL west is competetive, look at how far any team from there has gotten in the playoffs this decade. Most of them go 1 and out. The Giants made it to the world series and had a great season. Besides them, it is pretty much a dump. I don't see anything changing this year. If the Padres take it all the way, you can pretty much expect them to fold up shop as usual in the forst round. They do it with smoke and mirrors. One good pitcher and a bunch of average hitters.Let's not bring up the Dodgers and their playoff performances since Lasorda left.

Btw, as a Mets fan, you should be concerned Beau. They looked good out the gate, and now it looks like they are in a tailspin. Seems like wagner wants to emulate Benitez.

The Madres are 2-4 in interleague play. I hope they can sweep Boston and some of the other AL eats teams. That would show they have some firepower. Seattle spanked them around.

I'm not concerned at all actually. Every team hits a rough patch..well..the yankees have had a season long rough patch but it's ok.

8 game winning streak.

of course, they're still just a game over .500, but they've played incredibly well over the last week or so. let's see if they can continue to play at this level through the remainder of june.

then we can talk if they've "come back" or not. ;)

that'll be a task in itself, won't it. they have some games left with boston, so if they can continue like they did the last time they played, who knows?

I'm happy with how they are playing, and I see no reason they can't continue throughout the year. Looks like they may have gotten it out of their system. You can't expect any team to continue winning 8 out of 10, but they sure look better than they did in May.
