I truly like the Chargers, but I have to go with NE.

Rivers is still a very inconsistent QB.Brady is great QB in every way.I think it will be an offensive game for NE and defensive game for SD.

But I still have to say "Lets go Chargers, lets Go!!!"

NE will win. Very good quaterback, tough defense. SD offense and defense are very inconsistent, but that lays more with Marty S than the team.

i will go against the grain..i say chargers. IMHO, they have a superior team AND the urgency needed to win

Im going with the Chargers if Rivers steps up in the playoffs,, but i trust that he will. He already proved in Seattle he can step up when it matters and win the game, even while not having a very productive game as a whole.

Brady gets inconsistant when he gets pressured which the chargers are quite good at doing. I seem to recall the Chargers blowing out NE the last time they played them....

yeah losing 2 games each by 3 points makes a team inconsistant

I pick the bolts, here's why. They are playing on home turf with a group of well rested starters. They have a far superior all around team. The Pats have to rely on Tom Brady, they have no other talent. Lastly we have LT, the guy is amazing and always finds a way to win. Either way it'll be a good game :bolts:

The Chargers will win the game. The only position that the Patriots are better than the Chargers is at quarterback,(only because Rivers is a rookie).
The cornerbacks on both teams are about even.
Merriman, Phillips and the rest will make life hell for Tom Brady.
He's going to get sacked 4 times.
The real key is the Chargers' offensive line. If they can protect Phillip, he can pick the defense apart, and LT can run wild.
If the Chargers don't have any major injuries, they will win the Super Bowl. They have too many stars at skilled positions.

May I remind you that the quarterback is the key position on any team. The Charger DB's are a load of crap. Comparing them to New Englands backs is ridiculous. The Chargers have an awesome pass rush, but their secondary has been exposed multiple times this year. As much as I dislike Brady, he finds a way to get rid of the ball under pressure as good as any QB in the NFL. I've watched him play a lot more than you homers have, since they play the Jets 2 times a year. Blitzing him all day is what the Jets tried to do. It worked for them last time they met, but you see what happened this time. Second of all, Brady plays his best games in good weather. It should be a good game.

I never said quarterback wasn't a key position, who would say that?
The Chargers DB's aren't all-pro but when it comes to the Patriots' secondary it's a toss up. None of them are going to the pro bowl or made the all pro team. The only reason I can name two of them (Rodney Harrison, and Asante Samuel) is because one was a former Charger, and the other made a key interception last weekend. With a dominant pass rush there is no need for all-world DB's. On paper, and seeing the two teams play this year, the Chargers should kill the Pats. I'll check back with this thread after the Chargers are victorious.

damn if there isn't a lot of "homer"-ism coming out on both sides of this thread.

That's correct. Southern californians will always hold the title of the most idiotic and bandwagon fans. Most of them can't name more than 2 players on their team. That's why this is one of the few markets where they actually blackout games.

Wow....Far be it from me to agree with Gio, but talk about being spot on with this comment.

You go to cities like Pittsburgh , NY, Boston, Philly etc.....those people are die hard fans win or lose. These idiots around here run to the store to buy flags and shirts the moment the team wins a few games. Once they lose, you will see the same people returning the items for a refund. Ask anyone who has worked at a sporting goods store. That's why I have said many times that even though they have a good team, their fans are pathetic. If the lose Sunday you will hear nothing about them till they win again.

I'd be willing to bet that the Chargers blow New England out on Sunday. All this talk of the fans doesn't mean shit. I just wanted to post here to say that I called the blow out before it happened.

I say....

that's true, they did. all i hear are calls for the coach's head, but the team started out very well. a few bad plays on defense and parker's inconsistent play really killed them. can't argue too much about the 4th and 11 play, but i still would have pooched a kick instead of going for it.
